How should I wear my hair to get it off my neck for homecoming with a strapless dress?

My dress is black, strapless, and has a thin pink ribbon across it. I'm wearing a black choker. I'm going to homecoming and I'll be dancing like crazy, so I want it off my neck and looking completely stunning. I want it off my neck because of my strapless dress and the fact that I'll be hot. Any suggestions? Also, makeup tips would be appreciated. I'm a senior, my eyes are blue, my hair is light brown/dirty blonde, and I've got fair skin.

Put half of your hair in a bun a few inches above your neck. Curl the hair that is left down with a 1 1/2 or 2 inch curling iron, then use bobby pins in your hair color to pin sections back over and around the bun, its a cute and modern version of a chignon, and also if you want, you can leave wisps or culrls out to make it look more natural.

one good place to look is in bridal magazines, those bridal attendant girls are always made up to look all glamourous, and they have their hair and makeup done so you can choose which style you like best, then go to your stylist with the picture in hand, and ask if she could duplicate it for you. If she can, great, have her style it BEFORE your big day, so you can really tell if she can pull it off, and if you like it yourself.

I believe the best thing for you to do is definitely an up due with that dress. I would go to a local hair school and ask them. Think about it they are students and are up on all the cool new hairstyles. They can also help you with your make-up. And because its a school they will do it for about half prices of a salon.

do it in a bun. or an updo with ringlets. it would look good on you.
