Will I get harrassed in Mexico if I have wild colored hair?

I really want to dye my hair blue, and then green, and then cherry red. I'm going to Guanajuato, Mexico for half a year, and I've heard that the guys are more aggressive there, and that they like American girls. I don't want a bunch of guys harrassing/hitting on me all the time, or giving me a hard time. I can handle how people are in the U.S., but will it be different there?

Guanajuato is a big multicultural city, lots of foreigners live there wearing fancy hair colors to say the least.

Don't worry, you will not be harrased, you will attract some attention but that's it.

Have you heard of the "Festival Cervantino"? It is one of the biggest cultural festivals in Mexico and is hosted in Guanajuato. Check out their site, it is just a sneak peak at how diverse this city is, http://www.festivalcervantino.gob.mx/

Enjoy your stay in Guanajuato, one of the things I love about Guanajuato is that it is close to many great things worth visiting, hop on a bus and in about 2 hours you can reach a new great city to visit.

Probably the thing is that there is so much negative questions and answers about Mexicans that i was influenced. Sorry. Have a nice trip.

And by the way, it just sounds funny that someone harass another one because of the color of the hair. In that point i believe Mexicans are really open. Report It

i spent a semester in Mexico. I don't think that a bunch of guys will harrass you for wild colored hair. If you have blonde hair they will. The best way to keep guys from messing with you is to know the culture....know the language....and lay it out right away so that they know to respect you and you're not just some American on spring break gettin on the bar. :)

I don't think so. It is pretty much like here, some bothersome men but mostly no. Like anywhere, drunk men are the worst. Actually, I found Mexican men to be more respectful in general to strangers than here. If you are not Latina you will get attention for that more than anything, but I did not find it to be particularly bothersome.

Have an excellent time. Oh! Also, the buses in Mexico are super cheap and very nice- the first class are nicer than Greyhound. So definitely travel around if you have the time.

I'm sure you think that in Mexico we are still with those big hats and riding horses, just like the movies show us to the rest of the world. Nobody will notice your hair, because many girls has coloured hair here, too.

Also, by the way you make your question, I'm sure you think you will be the only american girl there, and you will see there are a bunch of american people there. Please read a little bit more about us.

People down here also dye their hair. The most people will do is to stare at you thinking you look funny with green and blue.
