My friend and I have a bet going on, if she looses I get to dye her hair blue and if I loose I have to get blue highlights in my hair, I was wondering...what are the affects of a color dye? Will they ruin our hair? [My hair is dyed black]

OK, here i go on the dying of already dyed black hair,I've been a color tech for 14yrs and have seen it all girlfriend believe me when i say u don't want to do this either one of u if her hair is dyed too i mean if her hair is all virgin it well be fine but urs well fall out!! u'll have to first bleach the black out to at least 3 to 4 levels to get the blue effect and then when u get it put on and hate what it did and u well then u'll have to see a pro to color correct that and $$$$$$$$$$$$$ chuchig yes you'll have to spend moola to fix it and it still well fall out believe me i know i have black hair and so does my daughter and she wanted some red hi lites u know red!!!! i told her no and she begged i use the best products on the market redken and framesi is the very best and her hair still came out thank god we only did 4 little stripes that's all i would let her do and she was so glad and well liten to me from now on lol Ok if u have already done this or plan to go ahead i well tell u how to keep ur hair from coming out any more we did this to Dana's hair and it stoped falling out and it looks shiny and healthy again now Dana does flatten her hair every day and that didnt help matters eather,like i said i begged her not to so heres my e-mail if u are in hair trouble I'll help and it well be OK. but i say no to it for u for sure.miya_jordi_laela@yahoo.com

The answer is NO , they will not ruin your hair. ANY hair process is considered damaging to your hair, because it opens the cuticle on your hair shaft and that is what gives you frizzies, because you end up with dry hair. You HAVE to condition and get regular trims, or your hair will look like crap-o.
No, it will not ruin your hair, BUT blue dye on blonde hair---watch out---it will BE THERE for a while!

hair dye does have chemicals and a side effect can be your hair thinning out but it wont ruin your hair unless u do your whole head at one time it might . you are supposed to just dye the top at first and then the bottom a few days later.
