Would a blue base get rid of my red tint?

Right now my hair is between a level 2-3 and I've always used a red base, however now I would like my hair to be dark brown with no tint. Would a blue base do this without turning my hair blue-ish?

Would a blue base get rid of my red tint?

No. The main bases for hair color are red, yellow, and blue. When you add them all together, you get brown or neutral. So if your hair is too red and you want it a neutral brown, you pick a brown with an olive (meaning green) base. The blue and yellow will cancel out the red and creat the neutral color you are looking for. Also try using a cellophane (temporary color glaze) first to see if you like the look before going permanent. Most of the time colors named Chestnut Brown are browns with a green base. Cellophanes can correct color, add shine, and don't damage because they are amonia and peroxide free.
