What should I tell my hair stylist?

I don't actually HAVE a hair stylist -- I chopped my hair off at home when I was twelve-sixteen, but I've gone back to long hair. I had to cut it to about an inch %26amp; a half due to an unfortunate blue dye accident (green hair for the first three months of junior year; it would NOT STRIP OUT), so I've kept long for two %26amp; a half years ...

I want to visit a stylist to get some sort of nice treatment to make me feel beautiful. I don't want a color or a cut. A trim could be nice to get rid of dead ends, but I freak out that they'll try to take off too much. I have pretty nice natural layers cos of the short cut that I like.

What do I want? A vitamin treatment? Is it even worth it?

Book an appointment and tell the receptionist you want a deep conditioning treatment and a trim. Make sure you tell them you only want the ends trimmed, no length taken off, no new layers, JUST THE ENDS TRIMMED. That way you'll get rid of the dead ends and your hair will get a nice conditioning treatment.

i hate getting my hair cut but when i do i ask them to only cut off less then 1/2 inch and i get it conditioned and layered and i love my hair. just these little changes helped me a lot so u should try things like that.

I would take pics along with how you want your hair cut. Also, if your hair is not long or damaged you really don' t need a treatment unless you use blowdryers or irons on it. you need a good shampoo and conditioner.

i would go with the treatment. i mean dang it takes way all the dead ends and make your hair shiny and more fuller. that what i did.

The best thing that you can do for yourself is to shop around. Most salons offer free consultations and you need to be comfortable with the stylist who will be cutting your hair. She will also tell you what the best method of treatment you need for your hair.

Also, take quite a few pictures with you. Make sure that you have that mirror in hand so that you can SEE exactly how much they're taking off before they actually do it. If you see rolling eyes, get out of the chair and politely tell them that you'll need to think more about it before you settle on any hairstylist.

As a stylist myself, I welcome this. I'm not afraid to give the client the mirror to be sure that they are comfortable with what I'll be doing. I would never take off more than what THEY want even if I believe that they need more...it's not my hair. It's thiers.

So don't let them talk you into anything that you don't want. They will offer colors and offering is fine..persistance in the matter, however, is not.

Be confident in your stylist, be comfortable with them..... and he/she will be there to help you for years to come.

I hope you find the right one for you!!

depending on what kind of condition your hair is in at this time should be the deciding factor on the tye of treatment you need. If your hair is damaged from chemicals or something then you actually need a restructuring treatment otherwise know as a protein treatment. if it is just dry from normal stuff or you just want something to make you feel better, then you only need a conditioning treatment. as far as the trim goes...be careful because cosmatology schools teach a trim to be about 1/2 of an inch...to me that is to much for a trim. i would say..."just barely nip off the ends and that is it" then watch in the mirror and if it looks like they are gonna take more....STOP THEM right then and there. it is your hair not theirs....i think you will be pleaed as long as they understand what you are actually desiring..good luck!
